“Smart, keenly observed, and hilarious parody of the affectations of various types of music stars, ranging from bubble gum pop to country to rock. If you enjoy music and laughter, see this.” -Hy Bender, Best NYC Comedy
Pop Filter presents the inaugural performance of the music festival that features the hottest bands in the world, with special Broadway guest stars to be announced soon.
Featured March 12:
Familiar County
The “International Ambassadors of Country Music,” married sweethearts Dirth & Tina Drinkwater are known for their heartland anthems about dirt roads, rain, and plastic party cups. They want nothing more than to spread American values to every man, woman, and child all over the world.
Simon Never Said
Stars in the 90’s alt-rock scene, SNS became known for their uptempo anthems about depression. The band broke up in 1999 after lead singer Chad Bradley felt artistically betrayed by the world’s sudden onset mania over boy bands. They will be reuniting on the Feinstein’s/54 Below stage to play their first show together in almost 20 years.
Plymyth Voyager
This 80s arena rock band has never stopped believin’, touring consistently since 1972. After years of alcohol, drugs and excess, front man Neal Beggels cleaned up and sought out higher truths in meditation and new age wisdom. He’s now determined to spread love and healing through motivational stage banter.
Featured May 7:
The Veneers
Hailing from Williamsburg, these hipster-indie-folk-rockers are the voice of the present, as demonstrated by their knickers, banjos, jaw-harps and corncob pipes. This “artisanal collective” is made up of over 17 members, spearheaded by childhood friends Percy St. James and Camembert Thompson-Lathe. In Autumn 2016 they will depart on their first cross-country tour in covered wagons.
The ChalkTones
During the height of the 1960’s civil rights movement, social activists Bill & Gloria Alabaster joined the march toward equality by creating Motown’s premier all-white group, The ChalkTones. Even with their soulful anthems about love and equality, they found it difficult to break in and achieve the success of their Motown peers. They are still going strong, appearing weekly in the government-sponsored “Motown Traffic School” in Secaucus, NJ.
Lil NFant & Agave
He’s R&B’s only adult baby. She’s a diva who knew she was destined for fame ever since she was “the sexiest kid on the elementary school playground.” They may be out of touch, but never out of tune.
Featuring Adam Blotner & Jenny Pinzari
with Matthew Tobin, Brian Del Toro, Chris Brodhecker, and Joe Headrick
