The Chalk-Tones
Motown's Premier All-White Group
In the 1960s, America was dancing in the streets to the sounds coming out of the Motor City. Meanwhile, deep in Detroit's outer suburbs, another group was going against the grain, breaking down racial barriers with their soulful sounds, bachelor's degrees, and privileged upbringings. They are Motown's premier all-white group: The Chalk-Tones. They're happy to take whatever gigs they can get just to continue performing. They feel they never reached the fame they were due, often being heckled by crowds shouting things like “get a job in upper management!" One soulful performance at a time, they pursue their dream of joining the Motown Hall of Fame...and they just might get there someday.
